The Iranian Interior Minister has stated that illegal Afghanistani refugees should be expelled from the country, and he plans to take action soon regarding the expulsion of refugees from Iran.
Ahmad Vahidi, the Iranian Interior Minister, discussed the determination of the fate of refugees during a session in Tehran at the Ministry of Interior, according to a Fars News Agency report.
As reported on Friday, October 19, the Iranian Interior Minister further said that Iran has always had a good relationship with Afghanistan, and the majority of refugees who have migrated to Iran in various periods did so due to wars and ongoing insecurity in Afghanistan. Iran has always been of service to Afghanistani refugees.
The Iranian Interior Minister continued his remarks by stating that the people of Afghanistan have always suffered from the oppression of the powerful, and from Iran’s perspective, they are an oppressed people. He believes that hypocrites are trying to undermine Iran’s relationship with the people of Afghanistan.
The Iranian Interior Minister was speaking about maintaining a good relationship and regularising only legal refugees, while many individuals who sought refuge in Iran after the fall of the Afghanistan government, particularly those who faced security threats and were forced to live in Iran in an irregular manner, do not have any legal documentation.
