Mahmoud Ahmadi Beghash, a member of the Islamic Republic of Iran Parliament, has told Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Iran, that Iran’s rights of water must be returned by the Taliban.
He added that nearly ten million Afghans live in Iran. Their water consumption is ten times that of Iran’s water rights. This is happening while earlier Hossein Amirabdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said that the negotiations about Iran’s rights of water is ongoing.
He added that the Taliban, unlike the previous government, emphasize Iran’s share and consider it Iran’s absolute right.
Hossein Amirabdollahian said in an interview with IRNA that all options are on the agenda to realize Iran’s rights. Mr. Amirabdollahian said that they will stand firm for Iran’s water rights.
Besides, he added that Amir Khan Motaghi, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban, promised Iran that he would think about this issue.
