According to reports from local sources, the Taliban arrested a man and a woman in Sarpol province and took them to court on charges of having an illicit relationship.
Sources add that the arrested man is 27 years old and is from Alghan village of Gosfandi district and the woman is from Takzar village of Sancharak district of this province.
Din Mohammad Nazari, the spokesperson of the Taliban’s security command in Sarpul, said that the Taliban is obliged to implement the Islamic order and they will not back down from it even a single step.
This man and woman were arrested while the Taliban executed a whipping sentence on several other defendants in Kandahar province. This behaviour of the Taliban was met with a wave of domestic and foreign reactions. The United Nations considered this movement of the Taliban against the standards of human rights and fundamental freedoms and asked the Taliban to stop this anti-human behaviour.
