According to the statistics released by a daily newspaper, at least 213 people committed suicide for various reasons and ended their lives in one year.
There were 110 men and 103 women who committed suicide in 28 provinces of Afghanistan. This statistic of suicides started on 21st April 2022 and finished on 21st May 2023.
Based on the statistics provided by EtilaatRoz news agency, 38 suicide cases were recorded in Faryab province, 20 suicide cases in Ghor province, 14 suicide cases in Kapisa province, and one suicide case each in Panjshir, Samangan and Khost provinces.
According to the statistics provided by this news agency, nearly 80% of the people who committed suicide were under the age of 20 and the rest were over this age.
Psychologists and sociologists say that the cause of most suicides in Afghanistan is severe depression, unemployment, disillusionment of society, Taliban pressures and their excessive restrictions.
