According to Mr. Richard Bennett, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Afghanistan, the Taliban tortured and sexually harassed women once they were taken into prison.
He continued by saying that since August 15, 2021, the Taliban had placed the harshest limitations on women and expelled them from every level of power. Mr. Bennett urged the Taliban to stop their anti-human and discriminatory behaviour and respect human rights and dignity.
The report followed previous reports that claimed Taliban members had sexually molested women in prison.
Medical student Elaha Delawarzai recently claimed that Qari Saeed Khosti, the former spokesman for the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, had sexually assaulted and tormented her.
