According to local sources in Badakhshan, the Pashtun Taliban have fled this province following conflict between the Pashtun Taliban and the Tajik Taliban, as well as tensions caused by the Tajik Taliban’s replacement with the Pashtun Taliban in the city of Faizabad.
Sources added that today (Friday, June 23), the Pashtun Taliban faced numerous reactions from anti-Taliban groups and the international community at the same time as the Pakistani Taliban moved in northern Afghanistan, and they left Faizabad city for fear of conflict with insiders and people.
According to the sources, the Tajik Taliban severely beat two Pashtun Taliban, broke their hands, and took their mobile phones as the Pashtun Taliban showed ethnic prejudices.
These sources have stated that the administration of Badakhshan province has faced problems and that the delegation of mediation between the Pashtun Taliban and the Tajik Taliban has been unsuccessful.
This conflict between the Pashtun and Tajik Taliban occurred after the deadly attacks in the city of Faizabad, where the Pashtun Taliban took control of the city and pushed the Tajik Taliban aside.
