India hosted the Shanghai summit in New Delhi Today (Tuesday, July 4). The summit was presided over by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who stated that Afghanistan should not be exploited to destabilise the region.
Terrorism, according to Narendra Modi, has become a regional and global issue, and global and regional mechanisms should be formed.
He went on to say that member countries should not be afraid to criticise countries that support terrorism. He stressed the importance of continuing to assist the Afghanistani people and stated that the member countries of this group should continue to give humanitarian aid to the Afghanistan people.
Another key subject discussed at this summit was the Iranian government’s membership in the Shanghai Organisation. Putin joined the conference virtually and congratulated Iran on its admission.
Mr. Putin also highlighted his concerns about the situation in Afghanistan, saying that the organisation should handle the situation in Afghanistan and that the dangers emerging from this nation should be investigated.
The Shanghai meeting took place as the Taliban group caused worry both inside and outside of Afghanistan by relocating TTP members to northern Afghanistan.
