Lal Mohammad Gharibzadeh, the commander of the local police forces of Chaharbulak city in Balkh province in the previous government of Afghanistan and a member of the Jamiat-e-Islami party, was shot on Thursday evening (July 6) on the road between Mazar-i-Sharif and Chaharbulak.
Atta Mohammad Noor, the former governor of Balkh, wrote on his Twitter page that the Taliban assassinated the commander Lal Mohammad.
He wrote: “Although I told him before returning to his homeland not to believe the Taliban and not to go, he told me that Seyyed Shamsuddin Sadat, known as Shamsi, had guaranteed him that there would be no harm to him.”
Lal Mohammad was one of the people close to Atta Mohammad Noor, the former governor of Balkh, who returned to Afghanistan from Iran at the request of the Taliban invitation commission.
