The people of Uzbekistan have gone to the polls this morning in an early election to determine the new president of this country, who is to be elected for a 7-year term.
This early election is being held after the approval of the constitutional amendment in the April 30 referendum.
According to the statistics of the Election Commission of Uzbekistan, roughly 20 million people are eligible to vote, and more than 10,000 ballot boxes have been placed throughout the country.
Four candidates are competing in this election.
According to the laws of Uzbekistan, election candidates must be over 35 years old and have lived continuously in this country for the past 10 years.
