The Ministry of Promoting Virtue and Preventing Evil has announced the burning of musical instruments by the Taliban.
The Taliban government posted images of burned musical instruments on Wednesday (July 19), claiming that the items were used to promote music and corruption and had been destroyed by the ministry.
The Department of Promoting Virtue and Preventing Evil claimed that immoral programmes have been prevented in the city of Kabul and some provinces in the past few months based on the actions of the appointees of this department.
When the Taliban came to power, they banned playing music in Afghanistan. But sometimes pictures are published on virtual networks in which Taliban people are dancing with drums and other musical instruments or are in pleasant circles.
The members of this group welcomed Abdul Ghani Haqbin, the head of Kandahar’s anti-terrorism department, with music and instruments in a gathering held on May 5.
