By publishing a new report on Sunday (July 23), the United Nations aid organisation OCHA said that climatic, political, and economic challenges continue and that two out of five people in Afghanistan face high levels of acute food insecurity.
In the report, prepared and compiled by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, it is stated that in 2023, it is estimated that two-thirds of the population will need humanitarian assistance, an increase of 54 percent from 2021.
Regarding the severe drought and winter conditions last season, OCHA said that these conditions had a wide impact on crops, and wheat production was sufficient to meet only 40% of needs.
According to OCHA statistics, eight out of ten people are dependent on agriculture, and due to the climate crisis, these families need immediate support to ensure their security.
This organisation, in cooperation with 237 local and international institutions, is trying to help the needy, and this situation requires a universal response.
