According to reports, yesterday and today (July 24 and 25), Hazara refugees protested in Indonesia. In this demonstration, the Hazara refugees were beaten by the Indonesian police.
Sources said that these demonstrations have been launched in Pekanbaru, Tanjung Penang, and Makassar.
Mr. Ezzat Ahmadi, one of the activists for the Hazara refugees in Indonesia, told VOC News that the people have been stranded in Indonesian migrant camps for nearly ten years, but no institution has yet reached them.
He stated that the purpose of launching the demonstration is to save people from misery and plead for asylum seekers who are in a state of uncertainty.
Mr. Ahmadi added that the United Nations High Commissioner has not yet done anything for the Hazara refugees. He continued to condemn the Indonesian government for blackmail and discriminatory behaviour.
This refugee activist claimed that yesterday the Hazara protesters were beaten by the Indonesian police, and some of them were injured in the head, face, arm, leg, back, and pelvis.
Hazara refugees in Indonesia want the United Nations and refugee institutions to save them from uncertainty as soon as possible and determine their fate.
