According to Sky News, for the first time, a cycling team consisting of two Afghanistani female cyclists will participate in international cycling competitions.
These two young ladies, 24-year-old Arifa and 22-year-old Mina, left the country and went to Britain after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan. Arifa and Mina have formed a team, and next week they will compete on behalf of Afghanistan in the international cycling competition in Glasgow.
Arifa told Sky News, I want to represent my country. Especially for girls who are deprived of such opportunities.
Since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, women and girls have been banned from all sports activities, and because of this, sportswomen and girls have been forced to leave the country.
