The United States Department of State has asked the Taliban to stop their anti-human rights behaviour and stop harassing the women and girls of Afghanistan.
Thomas West said at the Doha meeting that he is extremely worried about the current situation in Afghanistan and that the Taliban must provide an appropriate response to these concerns.
He added that restricting religious freedoms, suppressing the media, arbitrary arrests, and multiple tortures are clear violations of human rights, and the Taliban must stop them.
Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan; Rina Amiri, the US special representative for women, girls, and human rights in Afghanistan; and Kern Decker, the head of the US mission to Afghanistan, participated in the Doha meeting and expressed their position regarding the situation in Afghanistan with the Taliban.
