The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid, or OCHA, said that the needs of the people of Afghanistan are high, but the budget allocated to them is not enough.
According to OCHA’s report, aid organisations need a total of 3.2 billion dollars to help 22.3 million people in Afghanistan during 2023, but half of it has not yet been available to these organisations.
This international organisation added that the people of Afghanistan have suffered double poverty due to civil wars, massive migrations, natural disasters, devastating wars, and systematic discrimination, and currently nearly 28.8 million people are in dire need of humanitarian aid.
Ocha also wrote in his financial report that Afghanistani women and girls are one of the most vulnerable sections of society and should be given more special attention. This international organisation added that one third of the families economic cycles were supported by women, but since the Taliban came to power, this cycle has been reduced to a point of zero, and now women are in the worst possible situation.
