According to reports from local sources, the Taliban in Herat province have started collecting tithes and have told the people that everyone is required to comply with this order based on religious teachings.
Mawlavi Pir Mohammad Halimi, head of agriculture, irrigation, and livestock of the Taliban in Herat province, said that this mandate was created to collect tithe and zakat in Herat, and all its costs are supposed to be transferred to the centre.
According to this department, so far, nearly 30 million Afghanis have been collected and transferred to the centre.
