Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that a number of foreign citizens are in Taliban custody.
He added that the reason for arresting foreign citizens is their suspicious and anti-security behaviour. Also, Mr. Mujahid said, a judicial case involving foreign citizens is being investigated; if they are innocent, they will be released soon.
These statements were made after the American representatives said in a conversation with the Taliban delegation in Qatar that the Taliban should immediately release the American prisoners, as detaining them would be a serious obstacle to positive interaction between the US and the Taliban.
