An asylum seeker from Afghanistan has spent a long time in prison in Greece due to the false accusation of “human trafficking”.
Greek media have reported today, Friday, September 8, that “Akif Rasouli”, an asylum seeker from Afghanistan, was released from prison after a court decision in Greece, and according to the court’s decision, he is supposed to receive 16,000 euros in compensation.
According to the Guardian report, a court in Greece unexpectedly decided that this refugee from Afghanistan, who was not only innocently imprisoned but also suffered a lot, should receive compensation.
Reports indicate that Akif Rasouli has been imprisoned in this country for more than two years, and after the decision of the open court, he will receive compensation in the amount of 15,920 euros.
According to the Guardian, a three-member appeals court on the island of Lesbos,” in a rare move, decided that Mr. Rasouli was not only unjustly imprisoned but should receive compensation for the suffering he endured.
As he himself told the media, this Afghanistani refugee suffered countless sufferings during this period of imprisonment and was sentenced to fifty years in prison before the court’s decision.
