Based on Pakistani media reports, a Hazara judge was appointed as the chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to the Dan news agency, Judge Faez Isa was appointed as the 29th judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
Judge Faez Isa is from Sheikh Ali’s city of Parwan and is a Hazara Sunni. He has a brilliant record in high government and judicial positions.
His father, Qazi Mohammad Isa, also worked as a judge in Pakistan.
Qazi Faez Isa has attracted both admiration and controversy during his illustrious legal career. From his early life to his rise to the highest echelons of Pakistan’s judiciary, his journey has been marked by significant events and decisions that have left an indelible mark on the country’s legal landscape.
One of his discussions goes back to Balochistan’s Somoto; one of the most prominent moments in the professional life of Judge Isa was his comment on the horrific murder of 26 members of the Hazara community by the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. This historic case not only showed his commitment to justice but also outlined the basic principles for handling it.
Regarding the case of the killing of Hazaras in “Somoto” of Balochistan, Judge Isa emphasised that the investigation of such crimes that violate the rights of citizens is not aimed at presenting a request by citizens to the court, but the heads of the Supreme Court can take such actions and even check the basis of media reports.
