The Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban says that the polio vaccination campaign has started today (Monday, May 15, 2023) in 23 provinces of the country. This campaign will continue for three days and 6.4 million children will be vaccinated. According to an estimate, only three cases of polio have been registered in the country in the last two years. One in Batikot district of Nangarhar province, one in Kunar province and one in Paktia province. Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only two countries that are still struggling and suffering from this deadly disease.
