Local sources from Balkh province report that Taliban have closed Safi private school yesterday (Tuesday, May 15, 2020) in Mazar-i-Sharif.
Sources add that Taliban have entered Safi’s private school and have taken some girl students with them. This happened after Safi School had provided a platform for education of girls above grade six. When the Taliban becomes aware that girls above sixth grade going to school, they enter the school and treat the students and school officials with violence and inhumane.
The closure of Safi school comes when the Taliban Ministry of Education announced on Mordad 28, 1398 that girls above sixth grade should not go to school until the further notice.
