Graça Machel, a women’s rights activist and the wife of Nelson Mandela, the leader of the resistance against racial apartheid in South Africa, has said that the misogynist behavior of the Taliban has deprived women of work and education.
She asked the world not to remain silent against the gender apartheid of the Taliban and not to simply pass by it.
Mrs. Machel told the Telegraph that the world’s reaction to the rebels who now rule in Afghanistan and have imposed severe restrictions on women has been soft and this is intolerable.
She asked the international community to put pressure on the Taliban and ask them to respect human rights and rights of Afghan citizens.
