Coalition of Women’s Protest Movement wants the United Nations to look into the situation of women in Taliban’s prisons.
On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, these protesting women wrote in a statement that the Taliban not only don’t treat women prisoners properly in prisons, but sexually harassed them.
Coalition of Women’s Protest Movement has added that the situation of women in Taliban’s prisons is alarming and the United Nations should address this issue as soon as possible and not allow women’s human dignity to be crushed.
According to the report of protesting women, nearly 90 women are imprisoned in Taliban prisons. They say that this number of prisoners are only in Jawzjan, Faryab and Samangan provinces.
Since the Taliban came to power, hundreds of protesting women have been arrested, tortured and killed by Taliban forces. Some of the freed women say that the Taliban raped them and subjected them to the worst possible conditions.
