The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that the number of Afghanistani refugees has exceeded 5 million.
This international organisation added that these statistics are from 2021 to 2022. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees pointed out violence, war, and conflict, violations of human rights, forced resettlement, and natural disasters as the main causes for people to seek refuge and become refugees.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees also said that most of these refugees come from Syria, Ukraine, and Afghanistan. It is said that the number of Syrian refugees is 6.5 million, and the number of refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan is said to be more than 11 million.
This international organisation continued that the total number of refugees in the world is expected to be 110 million individuals.
