According to sources in Kabul, Reza Shahir, a journalist for Rah-e-Farda TV, was captured by the Taliban on Saturday, June 17, while returning from Iran on the Herat-Kabul road.
Sources said that Shahir recently returned from Iran to renew his visa and planned to travel from Herat to Kabul. But, on the afternoon of Saturday, June 17, he was captured by Taliban forces in the Shahjoy district of Zabul province and taken to an unknown place.
The Taliban had arrested him for the third time. The first time occurred on April 31 of last year, and the second time was on June 13 of last year, both by Taliban intelligence in Kabul.
Sources said that he was tortured and beaten every time the Taliban arrested him, and he was forced to leave Afghanistan with his family due to the pressure and threats of the Taliban.
