Meta, the company that owns the WhatsApp messenger, has said that it is blocking user accounts belonging to Taliban members.
According to the New York Times, the spokesperson of this company said that it scans the names of groups, descriptions, and photos of people in the WhatsApp messaging programme to identify members of the Taliban.
A member of the Taliban also told the New York Times that the only way to communicate with this group is through WhatsApp.
According to this American media outlet, in recent months, the complaints of Taliban terrorist officials about the ban and temporary deactivation of WhatsApp have increased.
