Reliable sources from the Taliban affairs department confirmed that on Wednesday, June 21, the Ministry of Hajj and Awqaf and the Ministry of Public Affairs of the Taliban signed a new memorandum to control women’s hijab and ban men from wearing pants and shaving beards. In the new orders of the Taliban, it is stated that if women do not observe the hijab, the men of their families will be questioned.
With the establishment of the Taliban government in Afghanistan, a new restriction has been issued for Afghanistani women almost every two weeks, which has left no rights for women to this day. The Taliban relies on the injunctions of Islam for all the restrictions imposed on women. The source also added that the ban on shaving beards and wearing pants for men is also emphasised in these orders.
This is despite the fact that before, it was mandatory for employees who work in Taliban offices to shave and trim their beards. But the general public did not follow these orders.
Also yesterday, eyewitnesses reported that a number of young people were slapped and beaten on the road of Dar al-Aman in Kabul by agents of the Taliban for wearing pants.
