The United States seems not to be concerned with the situation in Afghanistan, according to Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, who made the statement yesterday (Wednesday, June 21) during the UN Security Council meeting.
He continued by saying that the United States and other Western nations have turned their attention away from Afghanistan’s human rights and economic problems in favour of the Ukraine crisis, which has made the situation more chaotic and dire.
The foundation for the settlement and restoration of Afghanistan was intended to be established over a 20-year period, according to Mr. Nebenzya, but the US instead prioritised funding mafia cartels and extremist organisations.
He further stated that while Afghanistan should have been the main priority right now, the United States and its allies are preoccupied with the crisis in Ukraine and are not paying any attention to Afghanistan.
