Afghanistan has turned into a hostile place for women, according to Rina Amiri, the US special envoy for women’s and human rights in that country, in a tweet from yesterday (Wednesday, July 5).
She referred to the Taliban’s most recent decision as a catastrophe and claimed that with their new rule, the Taliban had taken control of the final women’s shelters and entirely isolated women from society.
Ms. Amiri added that, in addition to keeping working women economically viable, hairdressing salons could also give them a good spirit and throw them from the frame of the house to the frame of society, but the Taliban’s new order took away the opportunity for Afghanistani women to do this, and they became even more isolated than before.
The talks took place after the Taliban issued a fresh directive ordering the closure of all women’s hair salons across the country in less than a month.
