According to Indian media reports, at least 18 people were killed and dozens of others were injured in a clash during the Indian municipal election.
This conflict took place on Saturday, July 8, in West Bengal, which has a population of 104 million people, the Hindustan Times reported.
About 10 people from the ruling Trinamool Congress party, three people from the Bharatiya Janata Party, three people from the Congress Party, and two others from the Communist Party were killed.
The Trinamool Party (TMC) accused its opponents of indulging in violence, and the state’s main opposition party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), called for a complete cancellation of the election.
This was while at least 54 people were killed due to tribal conflicts in the Indian state of Manipur.
