According to sources, Taliban members beat, assaulted, and imprisoned Hadi Ahmadi, a representative of the Barchi Regression Area, for raising the Muharram flag.
According to sources, Mr. Ahmadi put a Muharram banner over his shop this morning (July 19), but the Taliban took it down and told him not to do it again.
According to eyewitnesses, Ahmadi was re-installing the flag over his shop for the second time this afternoon when the Taliban took it down and stomped on it, viciously assaulting and humiliating him. They then took him to the police station against his will.
According to the sources, Ahmadi is still in the Taliban’s custody, and the Taliban do not wish to release him.
At the same time, there are accusations that the Taliban are mistreating the mourners of Muharram, with multiple incidences of beatings.
