VOC News: According to a report released today (Wednesday, July 19) by the Red Cross Committee, 640 children in Afghanistan perished or were injured as a result of mine explosions and unexploded materials between January 2022 and June 2023.
According to the research, this number accounts for 60% of all civilian deaths caused by mine explosions and leftover explosive items.
At the same time, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued a report in September this year stating that “from 1989 to the present, approximately 57 thousand civilians have been killed and injured in Afghanistan as a result of the explosion of mines and other unexploded ordnance.”
