Today just like yesterday the Kabul’s sun is scorching like a Talib a whip in hand, spreading its visible and invisible forces in every corner of the city.
Sharif has been working as a driver in Kabul for years. Today we’re going to have a little chat with him. Will talk about secret things under the skin of the city, like half-alive worms.
“Welcome, welcome, dude,” Sharif says, as he watches me and gets out of his car, coming towards me.
After a brief greeting he says, “Let’s get in the car, where I live now.”
He has not painted his cab as the Taliban ordered a while back.
“What’s up? You haven’t painted your car yet. Isn’t blue your favorite color?” I ask him curiously.
“I like blue and yet it’s not the time,” he says sarcastically.
“The situation is tense, bro. Trust me as I’m telling you,” He starts to talk about his favorite topic.
He continues talking in a sad voice, “I didn’t the working situation, big bro. I’m talking security situation under the Taliban rule. It’s not compared to the republic period. Particularly the two years, it’s very tense. These bastards are very active on spying on people.”
He interestingly continues talking about things I’ve never heard before. And he says people are being arrested by the Taliban without any appropriate reasons.
“Yeah, big bro. Believe me that they have spies and informants everywhere. Every direction you see their spies are there. Specifically the passengers I take from one place to another. “
I know Sharif for a long time, before the Taliban swept back to power in the August of 2021. And I have never seen him concerned and depressed this much. I can feel the way he talks the desperate state. And I’m afraid as he reveals things I cannot believe. I’m shocked.
“That’s why they’ve installed security cameras on the head of the streets with the permission of the landlords.”
