According to Kabul-based sources, Taliban fighters are harassing Muharram mourners. Members of this group shuttered a public drinking facility in Gulai Mehtab, Barchi, today (July 24) and beat up the staff.
According to the reports, the Taliban fighters dropped all the flags at the Shuhada and Haji Nowruz crossings and obtained a pledge from all trustees of mosques and religious buildings that they would not set up public drinking areas in any way and would not allow the installation of flags.
Meanwhile, a number of political figures reacted to the Muharram ceremonial restrictions by calling them religious inequity and the institutionalisation of prejudice.
