According to local sources, the Taliban will stone a female teacher and a male teacher to death in Pul Khumri city after Friday prayers tomorrow (July 28).
Based on sources, these young man and woman loved each other and left Pul Khumri due to family troubles, and the Taliban apprehended them in Kabul.Atiqullah, the guy who would be stoned, is claimed to be a teacher at Karkar School in Pul Khumri.
The girl’s father requested that the Taliban release his daughter so that he could kill her rather than stone her in public. The Taliban have ignored the girl’s father’s words, and the stoning sentence will be carried out tomorrow.
In accordance with Sharia, stoning is a punishment for severe offences in which a man and a woman are executed in public because of an inappropriate relationship in a Sharia judge’s decision-making. Although the conditions for the maximum punishment are complicated, it has been emphasised that they should not be implemented. However, since taking control, the Taliban have carried out multiple cases of stoning.
Following the publication of this report in national media, a group of human rights advocates created the hashtag “Stop the stoning of these two young people.”
