The Purple Saturdays movement published a statement on Monday (August 14) on the occasion of August 15, the day of the fall of the Afghanistan government at the hands of the Taliban, saying: “I pledge that we will continue to fight until all the rights and freedoms of the country’s citizens are secured.”
This movement added that the Purple Saturdays movement is a protest movement against the Taliban’s policy and tries to be the voice of the people of Afghanistan.
In this announcement, it is stated that the members of this movement, despite the threats of the Taliban and the risk of arrest and brutal torture of the protesters, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the handing over of power to the Taliban group in Ghazni, Balkh, and Panjshir provinces, held street protests, protests in closed places, and raised slogans. They held them in different parts of the cities.
This movement emphasised that all Afghanistani citizens, especially women, are victims of the Taliban’s policy and asked other movements and institutions to fight together against the Taliban with the experience of the past and to create a system based on people’s votes.
