Linda Thomas Greenfield, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations, stated at the organisation’s meeting: “The United States is committed to providing justice and accountability for war-related violence.”
Linda Thomas Greenfield, on Friday (August 25), at the United Nations Security Council meeting on threats to international security and peace caused by terrorist acts, made statements about the presence of terrorists in Afghanistan.
She added that Afghanistan should not become a safe haven for al-Qaeda and the Khorasan branch of Daesh, who are still ambitiously calling for terrorist attacks.
She also emphasised that the existence of a legally capable government and broader security services are necessary to prevent and deal with terrorism and violent extremism.
This is while the Taliban deny the existence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan. Reports indicate that al-Qaeda members have been moved to important positions in Taliban offices.
