Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has announced negotiations with Taliban officials about Mohammad Hossein Velayati, an Iranian journalist arrested by the Taliban.
Mr. Abdollahian wrote in a post on the X social network on Friday (August 25): Intensive diplomatic and consular efforts are underway to bring back the photographer of Tasnim news agency, Mr. Mohammad Hossein Velayati.
Abdollahian added: I hope he will be handed over to the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul in the next few hours.
Mohammad Hossein Velayati, a reporter affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and a reporter for Tasnim news agency, was arrested by the Taliban group at the Kabul airport a few days ago.
