In a statement issued on September 15, the Sunni Hazara Council asserted that the removal of mature young individuals like Jahid and the denial of the vast Afghanistani identity are not solutions.
In reference to Hafiz Mansoor’s remarks about the presence of Sunni Hazaras in the “military committee” of the National Resistance Front led by Ahmad Shah Massoud, the council mentioned that when Tajik leaders are in dire straits, they use the name of Sunni Hazaras to gain legitimacy.
The council further stated that the most vociferous political leaders who chant slogans of “brotherhood” deny our “independent” identity and claim the political share of Sunni Hazaras for themselves.
In its statement, the council pointed out that they are striving for the unity and solidarity of Afghanistan’s resident ethnicities, especially the three religions (Ismaili, Twelver Shia, and Sunni), and alongside that, they are fighting for justice and identity.
The council emphasised that they consider elimination, denial of identity, and denial of territorial integrity as precursors to foreign interventions and subsequent crises. They call upon all Afghanistani ethnic and religious groups to pay attention to countering foreign interference.
