Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum, in response to the Taliban’s restriction on the Muharram ceremony, posted a tweet on Saturday (July 22) and said that perhaps some had believed Khalilzad’s “propaganda” that the Taliban had changed.
He added that the Taliban, while imposing “extensive restrictions” on the celebration of Muharram, have removed all the flags of the mourners from Shiite places all over the country.
He further considered the Taliban group to be anti-Shia and an enemy of knowledge and added that this group cannot be changed.
He called and wrote that the Taliban is the enemy of diversity and the multi-coloured society of Afghanistan; until we overcome extremism, no religious values and culture will be respected.
