According to the Mehr news agency, the Taliban has banned Mohammad Hossein Velayati, a photographer for the Tasnim news agency affiliated with the Iranian government, from leaving Afghanistan.
Mr. Velayati, who was in Taliban prison, was released from prison two days ago and handed over to the Iranian embassy in Kabul with the mediation of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mohammad Hossein Velayati entered Kabul legally through the air border on August 19 this year.
After spending a few days in Kabul, he was arrested by the Taliban at the Kabul airport while returning to Iran.
The reason for Velayati’s arrest by the Taliban has not been determined, and now the reason for his ban is still unknown, and the Taliban have not said anything in this regard.
It should be mentioned that the Taliban have arrested several journalists since they came to power and have not released them. Among them, Morteza Behbodi, a French journalist of Hazara descent, has been in Taliban custody for almost 8 months, and there is no news of his release.
