The British embassy in Afghanistan announced on its social media page on Wednesday, August 30, that it has allocated a budget of over $125 million to support the people of Afghanistan.
The embassy stated that it remains committed to a secure and prosperous Afghanistan and will ensure that, with the allocated budget, Afghanistani girls will be able to realise their full potential.
It’s worth mentioning that in recent weeks, many international organisations and global entities, such as the Red Cross, have reported budget shortages and a reduction in their aid to Afghanistan.
This comes as the European Union has previously declared that over two-thirds of Afghanistan’s population require urgent humanitarian assistance to survive.
The Secretary-General of the United Nations also stated that out of a total of 360 million people in need around the world, 28.3 million are from Afghanistan, and he had warned about the consequences of reducing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
